Video Tutorial Subtitles:

In this short video, I’m going to cover placing an item on hold.

First, search the catalog for what you want.

I’m going to look for the book A Short Biography of Georgia O’Keeffe, written by Kira Randolph.

I see the title I want on the results page. I can place the item on hold here by clicking ‘Place hold at the bottom of the item”, or by checking the box to the left and clicking ‘Place hold’ at the top.

I can also open the item to see more information before deciding to place a hold. Click the title to open. Here you’ll see details about the book, and scrolling down, you can see the library’s holdings. Use the arrows in the columns to sort the holdings, including sorting by status to see what the library has currently available. To place a hold, scroll to the top of the screen and click ‘Place hold’ in the right side tool bar.

If you are not already logged in to your library account, you will be prompted to do so. If you don’t have an account, you can request one by clicking ‘Sign up here’. Click ‘log in’ to log into your library account.

Click ‘Confirm hold’ if you’re ready to place your hold. Click ‘show more options’ to edit the options of your hold request. Here you can select a date when your hold will be suspended. This is useful if you’re working on a time sensitive project and know you won’t need the item after a certain date.

You can choose to select a specific item. This is particularly useful if you are requesting specific volume from a multi-volume set. In this case, I want the next available item. Click ‘Confirm Hold’ when you’re ready to submit your hold.

From your patron dashboard, you can see your current hold listed in ‘your summary’ here. You can choose to suspend your hold, and you can view your current status here. This will be updated as the library processes your request. You can use the ‘Help Desk’ to contact the library if you have questions.

Thank you.
